I wrote Compare Isaiah for my son Daniel as he prepared to serve an LDS mission to Peru. I wanted to show him that every part of the Book of Mormon had value so I undertook to write about what is arguably considered to be the most boring part. As I got into the subject I found that I had stumbled upon a rich and fascinating though largely overlooked part of the Book of Mormon.
Mormon himself considered the biblical scriptures so important that he excluded 100 other parts of his ancient record just so he could have enough room to include them in his abridgment. The story within the pages of Compare Isaiah made me realize more fully what a remarkable book the Book of Mormon is and what a remarkable achievement it was for a young man of limited education to bring it forth to the world.
